I saw the tweet go out, so I thought that I would repost this blogpost from earlier this year
I have seen pictures of different Council Shoulder Patches on Twitter and Facebook. It’s one thing that all scouters share…they are all the same shape, but there are many different CSPs…I know that I have 3 different CSPs…
The top one is the original patch that I bought on my first scout shirt. It’s also the first one that went on my son’s shirt and the patch that I put on my Scoutmaster’s shirt
The middle one is my council’s centennial patch. We have the option of leaving it or reverting to the old patch.
The bottom one was my commissioner’s patch that I earned when I was in the Commissioner’s Service, and received upon completion of my 90-day action plan.
Here is what I propose…
The first three scouters to send me a patch, and I will send you one of my three patches. If you have a particular one that you would like, it’s first come, first served…just include a note with your patch…no emails, no FB posts, no DMs in Twitter…I need it in writing. Once received, I will mail one of mine. I will throw it in a regular envelope and mail it…nothing fancy, I would think that it would mail with one stamp. Once I receive one, I will post a picture of it (FB, Twitter or here on the blog)…If someone wants it, send me one in return, and I will forward it on.
This game isn’t meant to be anything but fun…we all know that we can order any CSP through the internet, or get old CSPs from Ebay…that isn’t the point of this. This is a “grass roots” movement to get to know one another…writing a letter, putting the patch from your shirt in an envelope, and mailing it to someone and waiting for them to send you one back.
Here is my mailing address…I am not worried about posting it here, as I am very easy to find by doing a simple search…

I really hope this goes where I think it will go…what I would love to see is for a complete stranger to see me at the next Jambo, and show me my Commish patch that he traded for…or something along those lines.
Play along, let’s see how far we can go with this!
I like patches, and I got inspired for a new idea.
Dear Mr. Cleary:
I am helping an aspiring Eagle Scout, Caleb Gadberry, raise funds through Pepsi Refresh to curate a benefit concert in his hometown to raise $15,000 for our local foodbank.
If you could help vote for his project on Pepsi Refresh in the final days of voting this month and help spread the word to other friends of scouting, we would be very grateful.
