>Funky…

>It seems that over the last few months, some of my scouting friends from around the country, along with some regular forum posters, have kind of disappeared. Maybe that isn’t a good term, but maybe they have “throttled back”…a railroading/model railroading vernacular.

Whether they have found other outlets, or are shaking their cabin fever, or just decided that it’s time for a break, I applaude them…

Scouting is a great program and has done many people a lot of good. But there also comes a time when one has to take their time. Scouting may have to take a backseat, whether it’s to recharge or to “get a new battery”…one or the other.

What I don’t want those who are taking some time, to realize, is that we, being the rest of us, are still here at the end of the day….whether it’s to talk about the newest BSA idea, the latest in backpacking gear or to just “Hi.”

I have had my share of ups and downs when it comes to scouting, and I also have taken a break, and I know that there will be more breaks in the future…

So read this post and think to yourself “When was the last time I had a break?”

Maybe there is something that needs to be changed, maybe to look at things from a different point of view…try something different.

When driving turn left instead of right, go for a walk, take a weekend to search…for whatever. Play “Hometown Tourist” and go sight-seeing in your town…pretend that you are new to the area…

What I am saying is that events can change the way you look and feel about yourself, putting you into a nasty funk…

Only you can pull yourself out of it…and if not, I am still here…
